Surfboards

With the exception of our Soft Boards, all the boards we currently stock are from Australian shaper Shane Steadman (click here for shaper profile). This is our 3rd season with Shane's boards and the feedback to date has been unreal. Below are the boards and descriptions. For some help on deciding which board is right for you, have a look at this article. If you are still having trouble deciding then contact us on the phone or via email for more help.

Next day delivery of boards for 7'6 or under costs 10euro, boards over 7'6 cost 25euro

Soft Boards
Shane Mini Mal

The Shane mini-mal is the perfect entry level board. Unlike most in its class the Shane has slight modifications that allow it to be used longer into the learning curve of surf expetise.

The plan shape is not just a blob of unimaginative squareness, having a slighly narrower nose, and a tail shape that works for beginners but also allows improvment in style not found in most others.

Slightly finer rails and a bottom shape that compliments the other features provides a board that is easy to ride for beginners, but also allows more progressive surfing without having to change models after one season. Even when you progress to riding shorter surfboards a mini-mal will always be a welcome board to have for smaller days.

Shane Stingray

The Stingray is ideally suited to the intermediate to advanced surfer. Characterized by a swallow tail and single to double concave bottom, it enjoys quick directional changes with both speed and drive. A full nose and tail and even thickness distribution make the Stingray a paddling machine.

The rail shape is designed for stability, whilst sensitive enough to allow flowing re-entries and quick directional changes

The idea of this model is to provide a board that catches waves easily, but one that is highly reactive and maneuverable. A great step down from a mini-mal towards a performance shortboard, and also a board that we recommend in smaller sizes for juniors that have picked up surfing quickly.

CURRENTLY SOLD OUT, SIZES RANGE FROM 6'2 TO 7'0. Contact us to place an order.

Shane Glyder

The Shane Glyder is a radical small wave shortboard that is designed to work best in less than ideal conditions. (i.e small onshore waves that we have to deal with for a large part of the year.)

The concavxe under the front foot enables quick jump up to trim speed, there's plenty of foam in the tail, with a flattish deck and full rail, making the short glider a paddling machine. The Glyders real step away lies in a chine/bevel under the front foot to about 2 inches in front of the forward fins. The chine pulls in the width of the bottom, increasing the speed, by reducing the rail digging effect of a wider board.

The carbon tail adds stiffness to increase acceleration and speed, as well as protection against deck damage and broken swallow tips. The Glyder is a saviour summer board because you can go out and have fun in conditions that a regular short-board simply wouldn't work in.

From the novice to a pro the Glyder is the perfect all round small to medium wave board.

Shane Bigboy

The big blokes short board. Designed for the mature surfer who can handle short board performance, but who is perhaps a little heavier, or has gained in vintage, or whose lifestyle means less time in the water.

Similar design features to modern short boards, namely, single concave, even rocker distribution, etc, combined with a little extra width and thickness, allows serious surfers to continue when they outgrow their short boards.

The Big Boy is also an excellent choice for beginners/intermediates who want to move away from a mini-mal but are not quite ready for a performance shortboard.

Soft Boards

Soft boards are very often overlooked when it comes to choosing a first surfboard. For kids and Juniors we highly recommend softboards as a first purchase. They are safe, easy to learn on and help the surfer move quickly from beginner to intermediate. Overall we find our softboards good performers in the surf and just as maneouverable as some of the plastic/hard boards we have seen in the water.

The boards we stock and use in the school are made by NCS Surfboards, they have a soft top and a slick bottom are virtually indestructable. The smaller sizes are great for kids, while the larger 9'0 boards are excellent for adults who want a cheap board to begin with and provide the stablity to make the surfing learning curve that bit easier.

We sell all our stock at the end of the season and they go quick, so if you are after a soft board then it is best to contact us and put your name on one. Prices range from 200 Euro to 270 Euro (sizes 6'0 to 9'0), size depends on ability so give us a call or come and try one on the beach before buying.
